Fondamenta Savorgnan-Site Conditions

Preliminary Mapping of the site.  The eastern side of the site becomes a sliver framed between two waterways.  More frequent stairs into the water on the western edge implies more traffic on that half of the site, as does the adjacent park and the larger scale campo that funnels to the water's edge.  Since this canal was the original entrance to Venice (prior to the train station, which also sits in rather close proximity), I imagine there is a decent amount of traffic through the area, both a piedi e in barco.  Also of interest, pockets of space form along the alleyways in what I thought might be a relief from the long, tight alleyways, but they also seemed to be walled off and inaccessible.

Possible points to begin thinking about grafting on.

A bridge here, acting as some sort of open space for people to congregate and chill out might be nice (a bridge park?).  I just think a more obvious public space might be nice.  If created with several branches for circulation and movement, pockets could arrive for people to occupy over the water?  Maybe it could touch down in several places on each side?  It builds up to a second story and attaches, allowing people to walk underneath?  Has a labyrinthine quality to it, like the way Marco Polo talks about Venice?  Not sure yet.
