Venezia's aqua alta disrupts people's lives, but the people of this region have no choice but to continue their activities despite the flooding. What begun as a peaceful relationship with the water at the genesis of Venice has turned destructive.
In an attempt to revitalize the peaceful and respectful relationship between the water and the citizen, I would like to install a library with a floating reading room. The spatial relationship and the pace of circulation will be influenced by the water level, bringing attention to the change of tides without distracting the occupant with the negative aspects of flooding.
I chose site three because of its size and opportunity for public interaction. The canal here is wide- it allows enough room for me to claim part of the waterway without blocking off the boat traffic.
