Barcelona~!

Welcome to Gaudi Central

One can not go to Barcelona and not seek out the works of its most famous Modernisme architect!

Sagrada Familia

Sagrada Familia Interior

The Amazing Colors in Sagrada Familia
Experiencing the church on a sunny day and seeing the effect glass could have on light (and effectively the entirety of the space) reminded me of Gaudi's whimsical style even more so than the forest-effect his columns created---though this does not mean that they are of any lesser value!

The Exterior of Casa Batlló
The interior?  One day those photos will join their brother........ >_<

Living Fantasies in Palau de la Música Catalana

The Sun Oozing Onto the Audience Below
As the musicians played, the room came to life....it was as if all of the carvings and colors adorning the hall came forth and caught the music notes, tossing them to and fro in a playful way.  As beautiful as the room was, I think its true potential could only be reached in the dim light of a show.

Attempting to See the Barcelona Pavilion

Mie's Love for Materials....

Materials are not constrained to only the tangible.....

Ah.....I really wanted to see this statue in real life---not behind layers of glass!  But alas.  This will have to do for now..... =/

Modernism Continues to Strike!
Barcelona Olympic Plaza

Santa Caterina Markett
Enric Miralles really did have fun with this pavilion, celebrating the structure and designing in barn doors =D

The use of pre-fabrication to form a curving shelter has gone even further....

And..... Ta-Da!

The market was a wonderland of yummy foods....
